  • According to the company’s own research, 80% of senior information technology leaders think generative artificial intelligence will improve their organizations’ data use.
  • According to announcements from Salesforce and Amazon Web Services Inc, Tableau and Amazon’s S3 storage will be integrated via a Tableau connector.

Recently, the popular ChatGPT question-answering application, a subsidiary of Salesforce Inc. called Tableau Software, added generative pre-trained transformer technology to its core data visualization platform.

The business cited its own study, which revealed that 80% of senior information technology leaders think generative artificial intelligence will help their organizations use data more effectively.

The change is part of Tableau’s Pulse initiative, which aims to provide AI-powered, personalized experiences by making insights accessible in both natural language and visual formats. Reports can be integrated into existing workflows using the platform’s integrations with collaboration tools like email and Salesforce’s Slack. In a program that seeks to make 10 million people data-literate by 2027, Tableau has trained nearly 2 million people in data skills, the company said.

The Newest Data Cloud

Additionally, the company is using its annual user conference to tighten integration with its parent company’s suite of sales and marketing tools via composable analytics that bring data directly into Tableau through the new Salesforce Data Cloud for Tableau.

Einstein GPT, Salesforce’s robotic assistant, is the foundation upon which Tableau GPT is built. In a presentation for journalists, Tableau representatives demonstrated how the natural language interface, in conjunction with Einstein’s automated analysis, can detect anomalies in data, such as sales figures, and present potential explanations for why figures have changed.

Head of product at Tableau, Pedro Arellano, said, “Generative AI has the potential to become one of the transformative technologies of our lifetime.”

Proactively Alerting

Tableau Pulse can notify sales leaders, for instance, when it detects an out-of-the-ordinary decline in customer satisfaction scores and identify potential causes, such as a large number of active tickets or unusually lengthy response times. The information can then be shared on Slack without the need for copying and pasting.

According to the company, developers can integrate Tableau into any automated business workflow by using a new data service called VizQL. A simple programming interface enables developers to create composable data products on top of published data sources and pre-existing models.

Tableau is used to visually explore data in the Data Cloud, which combines all of a company’s data from interactions and channels into real-time customer profiles. Arellano says, “It’s a way to think of Salesforce as essentially a database.”

Users can instantly query millions of records with Instant Analytics and analyze and visualize any Data Cloud data in real time inside Tableau. A single Data Cloud instance can be used to separate data and processes from multiple brands, departments, or regions using Data Spaces.

Additionally, Tableau and Amazon’s S3 storage have been integrated by Salesforce and Amazon Web Services Inc. via a Tableau connector, which enables direct access to unstructured data kept in AWS S3. The AWS S3 Connector uses the visualization company Hyper’s in-memory data engine for Tableau to accelerate data ingestion and analytical query processing for quicker analysis.
