Workplace COVID-19 testing solution

Smrtlinks, a software developer company, has developed a unified COVID-19 testing and monitoring solution to help businesses. The company concentrates on intelligent people management solutions and has introduced a new service called SMRT:Testing.

App management solution

SMRT:Testing allows businesses from various sectors to return to the workplace while maintaining COVID-19 safety norms. SMRT:Testing will play an important role in sustaining COVID-19 test results of staff on a daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis. This will play an essential part for staff members for whom work from home is not possible and will keep the workplace safer.

The company has collaborated with the government enabled Rapid Flow COVID-19 tests to allow businesses from various sectors to purchase kits and its SMRT:Monitor software. The software helps track service users and employers COVID-19 test results via a secure web-based portal, with easy access via mobile app. This will add an extra security layer to employers returning to work at the organization in this new normal.

The software allows users to book testing time slots and upload test results to a secure web-based portal. Moreover, it also sends reminders to employees who fail to attend their test or submit test results. If an employee gets detected positively, the technology immediately notifies it to the designated staff members.

Expert thoughts

Mark Hales, Managing Director of Smrtlinks, commented: “The Government has placed a legal obligation on employers to provide a Covid safe workplace for their employees, while some employers have experienced reluctancy from staff to return due to concerns for themselves and their families.”

He further added, “As more testing is made available, employers are able to offer a higher level of assurance regarding safety within the workplace environment, however the data around these tests needs to be properly recorded and shared.”

Hales also added, “Our solution is to provide employers with testing kits alongside an easy to use, reliable app solution that allows employers and employees to keep track of compliance and outcomes in real time. Alerts can be sent automatically from the system to designated managers as soon as an employee tests positive.”

Accuracy

Smrtlinks COVID-19 Rapid Flow tests have been certified by Public Health England (PHE) as one of the five manufactured Antigen tests able to detect the new variant of COVID-19. The tests have shown:

  • Sensitivity of about 95%
  • Specificity of about 100%
  • Approximate accuracy of 98.6%
