Facebook will be soon launching a petition feature also will be available under the Community Actions tab.  The petition feature will allow the social networking users to notify their local officials of their petitions. According to the website, the feature will be first rolled out in the United States and then soon around the world. The users that create the petition can share with friends and tag relevant officials or organizations to solve the petition issue.

The main features in the petition will cater to demands of the petitioner, who can specify the demands to public officials.  There are various social petition sites online but the social media giant has a huge number of followers making it as an ideal option for the big social issues, currently many users start a social issue page as the petition feature wasn’t available.

The vast demography of the users appeals to the creators of the petition allowing the people to organize big social events such as Pantsuit Nation Facebook Group to one of the first Women March that was organized on the website in 2016. Facebook is clearly thinking to help the social cause and assisting the community. Facebook is looking to involve more of the users in the community good than just serving the advertisers.

The recent Town Hall Feature allowed the political candidates to create pitch videos according to the constituencies.  Facebook had included the community action feature that allowed the people to participate in the decision making and also put forth different demand for the officials and government organizations.

The community action primary function is to gain the trust of the users while reducing the malicious activities. The petitions are likely to have a certain rate of barriers to preventing the users from tagging certain type of representative.
