- Apcela has extended its APN services in over 120 countries spanning North and South America, EMEA, and APAC.
- Its Private APN service simplifies the management of global IoT ecosystems for both enterprises and platform service providers.
- The Arcus Platform and global network of AppHUBs offer private APN and IoT gateway solutions.
Apcela, a pioneer in software-defined, cloud-optimized enterprise network services, has notified the global diversification of its Internet of Things (IoT) Private Access Point Name (APN) gateways across its global Arcus Connect Platform. Private APN services from Apcela interconnects directly with wireless carrier networks, enterprise data centers, and hyperscale cloud providers across its distributed global network of 60 AppHUBs on the Arcus Connect Platform.
Each AppHUB within the Private APN service allows distributed security and edge computation to ensure that wireless data traffic is secured, preprocessed, and then routed directly to its destination over Apcela’s low-latency global MPLS network. The platform allows IoT endpoint devices to integrate securely and directly with corporate applications, be housed in the cloud or private data centers.
In its 2021 Magic Quadrant for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Gartner had noted: “Enterprises are looking for managed IoT connectivity providers with higher integration with hyperscalers for their connected products.”
Apcela’s Private APN Service aggregates IoT connection directly from wireless cellular carriers, provides edge security and preprocessing, and then integrates directly with hyperscalers via private cloud connectivity straight to the specified cloud platform.
Apcela introduced its Private APN service in 2019 across a small number of AppHUBs for a worldwide IoT platform provider that offers a comprehensive suite of infrastructure and systems for utilities and smart cities across four continents. Since then, Apcela has expanded the service, making it available across all 60 of its AppHUBs, making it easier to integrate IoT endpoints and data from wireless carriers in over 120 countries spanning North and South America, EMEA, and APAC.
In its 2021 Critical Capabilities for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Gartner continued, “Building an IoT-enabled business is complex due to the variety of the components needed — spanning from the edge hardware to different connectivity technologies, management platforms, and analytics. This situation raises many concerns for organizations around security, service delivery, global reach, and local support in finding the right vendor to simplify the management of the ecosystem in a secure way and with service delivery guarantees.”
“Apcela’s Private APN service simplifies management of global IoT ecosystems for both enterprises and platform service providers,” said Kunal Thakker, Director, Solutions Engineering at Apcela. “Leveraging the global reach of our Arcus Platform, we ease the burden of securing millions of IoT devices with the ability to add a range of distributed security and compute services at the edge.”
Together, Apcela’s Arcus Platform and global network of AppHUBs offer private APN and IoT gateway solutions. They form a part of enterprise multi-cloud Wide Area Network (WAN) solutions within the security, connectivity, and intelligence layers. It simplifies the network deployment and security services required for moving mission-critical applications and data to the cloud.
