Celcom Axiata collaborates with Xperanti IoT to significantly use the capabilities of Sigfox OG technology for IoT applications. Sigfox earlier has collaborated with industry players such as Michelin, LVHM, Airbus, Volkswagen, and Changi Airport Singapore.

As per a press release, the telecommunications and network provider entities plan to join forces to identify proven use cases of the technology and commercialize IoT solutions, leveraging Sigfox technology with Celcom’s network to further add momentum to the adoption of IoT in Malaysia.

It is also specified that Sigfox’s exclusive operator, Xperanti had laid a foundation for the deployment of IoT and has successfully covered 85% by the metrics of the population in Malaysia, including the states of Sabah and Sarawak. As per the news release, Xperanti has plans to continue to add to the network and achieve more than 95% coverage by 2020 with an aim to support the adoption of Industry 4.0 in Malaysia.

The Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Celcom Axiata Azlan Zainal Abidin mentions that this partnership signifies Celcom’s “full commitment” to lead the nation’s drive toward IoT adoption. He added that this is in preparation for the fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), which will further strengthen the development of the nation’s digital ecosystem.

Abidin also said, “As Celcom aims to facilitate and accelerate IoT adoption in the country, our collaboration with Xperanti IoT allows Celcom to be the nation’s most comprehensive IoT network provider, creating a positive awareness regarding technology advantages, as well as educate enterprises on the complexity of initial investments and management.”

He added that this initiative would offer local businesses different ways of identifying and implementing IoT solutions to “significantly enhance their business” as well.
