The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will take effect on January 1, 2020 with enforcement expected in July of 2020. The law provides California residents with several rights, including the right to access and delete personal information, as well as the right to optout of the sale of personal information – requiring companies that conduct business in the State of California to implement structural changes to their privacy programs. Organizations now need a scalable way to discover what data they hold, how it is used, and what third parties have access to it, as well as maintain detailed, ongoing records for compliance.
