Automation has long been the center of any discussion on strategy for IT and Business leaders, and more so now in the wake of COVID-19. At the same time, multiple perspectives on Enterprise Automation have emerged recently-including Hyper Automation, Integrated Automation, and Digital Process Automation, among others. While these perspectives address the ‘What’ of Enterprise Automation, little has been said about the ‘How’.

In this paper, we chronicle the evolution of these automation perspectives and show how organizations can successfully adopt automation as they mature in their capabilities, within the context of transforming operations with the end goal to increase business efficiency and productivity.
