Marketing software manufacturer HubSpot Inc. recently unveiled its intention to acquire Clearbit, a business data provider. This strategic move aims to bolster HubSpot’s data resources, further empowering its artificial intelligence capabilities.

Founded in 2015, Clearbit introduced a tool for email address discovery, which retrieves an individual’s name, job title, company, and social media accounts upon input. Clearbit’s tool proves invaluable for individuals facing a deluge of sales leads. It can distinguish leads from crucial executives that demand immediate attention, allowing for efficient prioritization and streamlining of their response to prospects.

The business has expanded its platform over time to accommodate even more kinds of data that help companies better understand the intentions of their potential clients. Clearbit aggregates publicly available web data alongside its proprietary data and employs advanced AI powered by large language models to transform unstructured information into actionable insights. These insights are subsequently provided to marketers and operational teams, enabling them to effectively target the interests of their audience.

“To cut through the noise with deep relevance, businesses need reliable, high-quality data about their customers,” stated Yamini Rangan, Chief Executive of HubSpot. “That means enriching your company’s internal customer data with real-time external context. Clearbit has made it its mission to collect rich and useful data about millions of companies.”

HubSpot will be able to use all of that data for its newly announced generative AI and predictive analysis services it offers its customers by partnering with Clearbit. These new features will require substantial amounts of data to enhance results and deliver the most accurate information to users.

As per the announcement, Clearbit’s platform serves over 400,000 users and accesses data from more than 20 million companies and 500 million decision-makers, allowing for the identification of top prospects, intent recognition, and effective customer engagement. With its extensive dataset encompassing over 100 filmographic, demographic, and technographic data points from public and private sources, the company can construct highly precise information graphs about individuals.

Once the data is fully integrated into HubSpot, users will be able to manage interactions within the platform and gain insights into customer activities occurring outside the platform and across the web.

“And, when it’s time to reach out, imagine using generative AI powered by all of this rich data to create personal messages,” Rangan stated. “That will be possible with Clearbit and HubSpot.”

Rangan noted that Clearbit’s data is already integrated into HubSpot as part of a prior integration. Consequently, customers will experience a seamless and cohesive transition when they benefit from the acquisition. The service has also been accessible through the App Marketplace since 2019.

While HubSpot did not disclose specific acquisition details, the deal is anticipated to conclude within the coming months. Clearbit will continue to be accessible as a standalone product, with plans for its gradual integration into HubSpot’s existing offering.
